Republican Candidate for House District 21
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Family: I was born and raised right here in Salem in the house my parents still reside in. My family tree in Oregon goes back to the mid 1860’s when Eli Rodgers, my southern born g-g-grandfather and his northern-bred wife homesteaded near Scio on Rodgers’ Mountain. Many of the succeeding generations stayed right here in the mid-Willamette Valley to raise their families. In 1987, I married Helene, a widow with 3 daughters. 15 months later we had a Christmas season bundle of joy. Sadly, Helene contracted Ovarian Cancer about 12 years later. She fought the good fight for about 5 years before walking through Heaven’s gate in 2004. Up until that time, she homeschooled Jessica (our youngest) who was also volunteering for Oregon Right to Life. (Later moving to Washington D.C. to work at National Right to Life)
In 2007, I married Margot whom I had met in 1986 at Western when I had gone back to further my education. She is in her 6th year working for H &R. Together we head the Children’s Department at Fruitland Community Church just east of Cordon Road.
"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer."
